At CHEC, we are committed to delivering outstanding community healthcare services that improve patient outcomes and reduce waiting times. We are seeking experienced Consultant Gynaecologists and Locum Consultant Gynaecologists to support the delivery of our Community Gynaecology Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-quality, patient-centred service, providing expert assessment, investigation, and management of women with a range of benign gynaecological conditions in a community setting.
The Role
As a Consultant Gynaecologist, you will independently assess, investigate, and manage patients referred into the CHEC Community Gynaecology Service.
You will provide expert clinical care within agreed service specifications while supporting timely diagnosis, treatment, and onward referral where required. Working within your approved clinical scope and privileges, you will help ensure patients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based care closer to home.
Conditions You Will Manage
You will assess and manage a variety of community gynaecology presentations, including:
- Amenorrhoea and menstrual irregularities
- Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
- Intermenstrual bleeding
- Post-coital bleeding
- Dysmenorrhoea
- Menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
- Premenstrual disorders
- Vaginal and vulval symptoms within service scope
- Other benign gynaecological conditions included within commissioned pathways

You will also be responsible for recognising patients who require urgent investigation, suspected cancer referral, or secondary care management in line with NICE guidance and local pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive gynaecological assessments and clinical decision-making.
- Diagnose and manage patients within the CHEC Community Gynaecology Service specification.
- Formulate appropriate management plans and treatment pathways.
- Request and interpret relevant investigations.
- Identify red-flag symptoms and arrange appropriate escalation where necessary.
- Make onward referrals to secondary care and specialist services as required.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical documentation.
- Complete clinic letters, referrals, and associated administration within agreed timescales.
- Work in accordance with CHEC policies, clinical governance standards, and service protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement, audit, and governance activities where appropriate.

About You
You will be an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with the expertise and clinical confidence to independently manage a broad range of community gynaecology presentations while delivering safe, patient-centred care.
Essential Requirements – Consultant Gynaecologist
- Current GMC registration and licence to practise.
- GMC Specialist Register in Gynaecology.
- Evidence of current or recent consultant-level gynaecology practice.
- Evidence of competence relevant to the CHEC Community Gynaecology Service.
- Participation in appraisal and revalidation.
- Appropriate professional indemnity cover.
- Satisfactory clinical and employment references.
