Consultant Haematologist with an Interest in Red Cell and General Haematology
We are inviting applications for 0.8wte Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Red Cell and General Haematology, which is a new post.
Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (Portfolio Pathway) and must be on the Specialist Register.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be to:
- Provide a specialist clinical and laboratory haematology service that is complimentary and enhancing to the current service.
- Maintain an up-to-date and evidence-based broad knowledge of both clinical and laboratory haematology. Expertise in performing and reporting diagnostic bone marrow aspirates is essential.
- Take part in the haematology on-call rota with the on-call consultant being responsible for all in-patient haematology matters and GP and laboratory queries.
- Work closely with haematology colleagues to share in the care of patients with blood disorders in the trust.
- Provide a consultatory and advisory service to colleagues in other specialties in both the Trust and Primary Care.
- Attend the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting for General Haematology/ haemato-oncology and Regional Haemoglobinopathy MDT.
- Take an active part in educational programmes for trainee doctors, medical students, and other nursing and supportive staff, including formal teaching sessions and clinical audits.
