Qualifications
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Job Details
- Position: Permanent full time (40 hours per week)
- Location: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital
- Department: Hepatology Unit of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
- Duties:
- Involve both out-patient and in-patient activities
- Two outpatient clinics (one in general hepatology and one in liver transplant)
- Supervision of a registrar (ST) clinic
- An endoscopy list
- Outreach liver transplant clinics in Aberdeen and Dundee (x4/year each)
- In-patient duties including responsibility for acute hepatology patients in Ward 205 (6 weeks per year) and liver transplant patients in Ward 206T and critical care (8 weeks per year)
- Triage of referrals to the liver service
- Contribute to out-of-hours hepatology cover
- Note: The post will not include general GI clinics and there is no General Internal Medicine commitment.
