Full-time substantive Consultant appointment with a responsibility to Adult Critical Care at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

A recent vacancy has created the need for a Consultant in Adult Critical Care at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post's emphasis will be on Adult Critical Care for clinical work, however there will be opportunities for teaching, administration and development.

Contract Details

  • 10.0 PAs: Split into 6.0 DCC PAs in Critical Care and 1.5 core SPA (plus 0.5 PAs for the first year).
  • Remaining 2 PA: Could be utilized for further clinical or non-clinical work in critical care or in an associated specialty such as Anaesthesia to support the successful appointee's clinical experience and qualifications.

Team and Environment

  • Team NUH Workforce: The new Consultant will join the existing team of 38 substantive Critical Care Consultants who work closely together and act as a very supportive group with a determined team ethos.
  • Supportive Environment: This contributes to the provision of an ideal supportive environment for new consultant appointments into the advertised post.

Duties and Expectations

  • Formalised Critical Care Rotations: The successful candidate will be expected to undertake formalised critical care rotations.
  • Flexible Work Across Campuses: The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly across the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH) campuses.
  • Out of Hours Duty Roster: A successful candidate will only be expected to take part in the adult critical care out of hours duty roster.
    • Night on call frequency: Currently 1:9.
    • Weekend on call frequency: Currently 1:4.5.
  • Teaching Duties: The successful applicant will also be expected to carry out teaching duties as required.
  • Mentorship: New consultants will be able to choose a mentor from the existing Critical Care consultant team.
