Consultant General Surgeon
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive General Surgical team of 14 Consultants mainly based at King’s Mill Hospital. The department provides comprehensive general surgical emergency and elective surgery, supported by the regional tertiary centre and is committed to delivering safe, personalised and compassionate care to patients across the region.
Sherwood Forest Hospitals has a strong culture of clinical excellence, innovation and staff engagement. Consultants are encouraged to contribute actively to service development, clinical leadership, quality improvement, education and training, and research activities. The department maintains excellent collaborative relationships with regional tertiary centres, ensuring patients have access to specialist services while enabling consultants to develop subspecialty interests and professional expertise.

Overview Of The Consultant General Surgery Role
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
- To share best practice and promote team working within the General Surgical department and GI multidisciplinary team.
- Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME)
