Are you passionate about delivering outstanding sexual health and HIV care while helping shape the future of integrated services?

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic Consultant in GUM and HIV to join our forward-thinking and supportive multidisciplinary team delivering services across North Kent.

This exciting substantive post offers the opportunity to work within a well-established integrated sexual health service providing Genitourinary Medicine, HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health care to a diverse population. The successful candidate will join a highly experienced team of consultants, speciality doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who are committed to delivering innovative, accessible and patient-focused care.

Our service delivers more than 38,000 patient contacts each year and includes:

  • Consultant-led HIV and GUM services
  • Walk-in and booked integrated sexual health clinics
  • HIV prevention and PrEP services
  • Specialist contraception and complex SRH services
  • Outreach and safeguarding programmes
  • The Kent-wide online STI testing service (SH : UK)

We are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about clinical leadership, service development, teaching, training, clinical governance and quality improvement.

  • Provide expert clinical care for patients attending integrated sexual health and HIV services.
  • Deliver consultant-led GUM, HIV and complex sexual health clinics.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex sexual health and HIV needs.
  • Support and provide clinical leadership to nurse-led services and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead and develop the department's clinical audit programme and quality improvement activities.
  • Contribute to service development and implementation of national sexual health priorities.
  • Participate in clinical governance, risk management and service improvement initiatives.
  • Provide safeguarding support and expertise for children, young people and vulnerable adults attending the service.
  • Support undergraduate, postgraduate and multidisciplinary education and training.
  • Participate in the supervision and development of trainee doctors, medical students and clinical colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across sexual health, HIV, gynaecology, obstetrics, dermatology, paediatrics, urology, pharmacy and primary care.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of integrated sexual health services across Kent.
