Role Overview
The appointee will be expected to work with colleagues to run a first-class critical care and anaesthesia service, in line with established guidelines and policies. On-call cover will be solely for critical care. There is a separate anaesthesia on-call rota for theatres and paediatrics (covered exclusively by general anaesthetists).
This role is part of the first phase to change the delivery of critical care across both sites in the Trust. Initially, this role will provide daytime critical care on the Sutton site (Daytime floor intensivist – DFI). This new role is required due to increased medical acuity on the Sutton site and to support the changes to treatment of our teenage and young adult cohort of patients (>16 years). This role will include morning and afternoon ward rounds of all critical care patients on the Step-up unit and all referrals to the Outreach team.
The post is suitable for a candidate with dual-specialty CCT in Anaesthesia and ICM. Weekend elective operating lists are likely to be included in future job plans.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Departments in delivering clinical training
- Undertake the necessary training to be a GMC-accredited educational supervisor as well as supervising clinical fellows
- Participate in regular departmental, academic, audit, and managerial meetings
- Attendance at a minimum of 60% of departmental MDTs per annum as an ongoing commitment to the post
