Consultant in Emergency Paediatrics
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Emergency Paediatrics to be based at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Hospital in Cramlington on a full-time or part-time basis.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have expertise in General and Emergency Paediatrics and will have a role in the ongoing development of the Children’s Unit at the Northumbria Hospital.
- You will work alongside other consultant paediatricians and participate in the training of junior doctors and paediatric advanced clinical practitioners in the department.
- When on duty your main role will be to provide and co-ordinate patient care in the Children’s Emergency Department.
- There are opportunities to develop a regular out-patient clinic as well as teaching, training, and service improvement.
Job Details
- The post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week which includes regular on-site working in the evenings and at weekends.
- There is no regular overnight on-call commitment.

- The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops.
- Full and part-time applications are welcomed and the content of the job will be agreed with individual candidates.
- The Job Plan will typically include an average of 8.5 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties and 1.5 Programmed Activities for Supporting Professional Activities (if full-time). A proposed job plan has been outlined in Appendix 4 and will be agreed on commencement of appointment.
