Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

You may also be required to work at any of NHS Lothian sites and other sites as part of the national service for Paediatric Metabolic Medicine.
This is a substantive consultant post and is available to start immediately as this is a new post to support increasing service demand. The successful applicant is expected to hold a CCT in Paediatric Metabolic Medicine, or be within 6 months of CCT in this specialty.
The department delivers tertiary care in Paediatric Inherited Metabolic Medicine, to children in NHS Lothian and other health boards. The post includes a commitment to 1 in 4 out of hours service that provides cover for nationally across Scotland. This Consultant post enables expansion to the Inherited Metabolic Diseases medical workforce nationally and will enable the successful candidate to work alongside the current teams to build on and evolve the current service model.
