Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Job Details
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, part time (32 hours per week) post based in Chalmers Sexual Health Centre.
This is a replacement part-time post within Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic (CGIC), intended to also provide a period of cross over with the retiring lead psychiatrist for the service. The main duties are to provide specialist expertise in psychiatry and gender identity healthcare for the CGIC, which is one of the specialist services provided by the fully integrated Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRH). This is an additional post to the current consultant psychiatry input for the team, to support with the management of an increasing patient cohort.

The Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic (CGIC) aims to provide a person-centred model of care, utilising a multidisciplinary team based approach. The successful applicant will join a wide ranging multidisciplinary team; including specialist nurses, GPs with expertise in Gender Identity care, psychology, sexual and reproductive health, reproductive endocrinology, pharmacy and speech and language therapy, in addition to another consultant psychiatrist. This post will provide additional clinical capacity for the CGIC, towards reducing patient waiting lists.
Job Responsibilities
The postholder will be employed by NHS Lothian. There are ample opportunities for service improvement, management and leadership, research and teaching within the service. It is anticipated that the appointee will take on additional duties according to skills and areas of interest, with appropriate recognition within the job plan.

A final job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate on appointment and will be reviewed according to educational and service needs. There is no on-call commitment or pager with this post. Usual clinical commitments are 5 face-to-face clinics per week, with appropriate time provided for other training and educational commitments.
