These posts represent phase 2 of this expansion. We are looking to recruit up to 4 additional stroke consultants who will join a friendly and proactive department, looking to lead in clinical service provision, teaching and training, service development, and audit. We are an accredited Hyperacute stroke research centre and an interest in research would be supported.

Job Summary

We are looking for applicants for new posts within the Neurosciences Department at the Leeds General Infirmary.

Hyperacute stroke treatments have expanded significantly over the last 5 years and in line with NHSE commissioning 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy services, and as the comprehensive stroke centre for West Yorkshire, we have an exciting opportunity to expand our medical workforce in order to deliver this.

A full neuro-physiological service is provided on-site and there are close links with the Department of Neuropsychology.

Requirements

  • The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.
  • In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
  • Applicants should have established skills in Stroke Medicine and its related specialties.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

Work Arrangement

Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part-time and those wishing to job share.

Interview Details

If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on:

'How can we marry health and wellbeing, workforce resilience, and the need for expansion of stroke services over the next decade in Leeds'
