Exciting Opportunity for a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon in Cornwall
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Upper GI Surgeon to join our surgical team in Cornwall.
We are looking for a surgeon with a strong interest and experience in Upper GI surgery, ideally with a specialist interest in bariatric surgery and experience in robotic-assisted surgery. The successful candidate will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to the continued development of high-quality, patient-centred surgical services across Cornwall.
About You
We are looking for a Consultant who is:
- Fully trained in Upper GI surgery and eligible for appointment at Consultant level.
- Experienced in complex Upper GI surgery.
- Ideally experienced in, or with a strong interest in, bariatric surgery.
- Experienced in robotic surgery, or with demonstrable commitment to developing their robotic skills.
- A strong team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Committed to clinical excellence, teaching, research and continuous service improvement.
The Role
The Successful Candidate Will Have The Opportunity To
- Deliver a high-quality elective and emergency Upper GI surgical service.
- Develop and expand their specialist interest in bariatric surgery.
- Undertake and develop robotic-assisted surgical procedures as part of our evolving minimally invasive surgery programme.
- Work closely with gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, anaesthetics, dietetics and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and training.
- Support the continued development of specialist Upper GI and bariatric pathways across Cornwall.
