Consultant Urologist

As a Consultant Urologist you will be joining a collegiate department focused on providing the highest possible care for our patients. In a busy unit, you will work hand in hand with our outstanding Urology and Oncology Nurse Specialists to run our Consultant-led team with the support of 2 Specialist Registrars and a Urology-facing CT2.

There are great opportunities to develop your specialist interest with our Urology Area Network partners at Addenbrookes hospital: to strengthen and develop patient pathways and to access specialists operating in a Tertiary Centre. This will be balanced with a strong core urology focus and on-call in a supportive, friendly and forward-thinking District General Hospital in a beautiful, vibrant town.

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all urological patients.
  • To share with colleagues' responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Urology Department.
  • Teaching and training of junior medical staff, nursing staff, and medical students.
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
  • To promote the development of multi-disciplinary teams and shared responsibility for the provision of care to patients.
  • To develop innovative working practices, and to support the growing clinical contribution of non-medical staff.
  • To work effectively within a team and communicate well with patients, General Practitioners, and hospital colleagues.
  • To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
