The Role
As our Innovation Funding portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for someone to help maximise the impact of the innovators and SMEs we support across the UK.
Over the past year, our programmes have increasingly focused on delivering tangible, place-based outcomes for innovators, connecting them with regional partners, testbeds and adoption opportunities.
As our funding programmes mature, there is growing demand from funders, partners and regional stakeholders to embed innovation more deeply within local ecosystems and accelerate the economic and social benefits generated through our work.
This role will be responsible for building strategic partnerships across regional and local growth ecosystems, ensuring innovators are connected to the right opportunities and helping translate innovation into real-world impact.
The postholder will lead the development of key relationships with stakeholders. They will proactively identify opportunities for innovators supported through CPC programmes, while supporting business development activities that create future opportunities for CPC, specifically within the Innovation Funding value proposition remit.
The role requires a highly organised and detailed-focussed relationship manager with strong stakeholder engagement, business development and programme delivery skills, capable of operating independently and collaboratively to deliver impactful outcomes for innovators, funders and regions across the UK.
You will be expected to:
- Build, develop and manage strategic relationships with regional and local stakeholders, from government and industry.
- Work closely with Innovation Funding Managers to lead and/or provide advice on engagement activities that connect innovators with relevant regional opportunities, testbeds and adoption pathways.
- Design and implement structured mechanisms to embed funded innovators within local growth and innovation ecosystems, building a scalable and repeatable approach.
- Identify opportunities to align innovation funding programmes with regional priorities, economic growth strategies and investment pipelines, working with the regional stewards.
- Lead the delivery of regional Innovation Funding programmes and associated stakeholder engagement activities.
- Facilitate introductions, matchmaking activities and partnership-building opportunities between SMEs and local stakeholders.
- Coordinate workshops, events, webinars, demonstration opportunities and engagement activities that accelerate innovation adoption from existing Innovation Funding programmes.
- Support monitoring and evaluation activities by capturing evidence of programme outcomes, regional impact and innovation adoption.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of Innovation Funding Programme delivery, processes and stakeholder engagement approaches, specifically expanding our Network of networks in the regions.
- Help innovators navigate regional ecosystems and access relevant partners, facilities, expertise and funding opportunities.
- Support business development activity working closely with programme teams and regional embedded colleagues by identifying (and converting) opportunities arising from relationships with regional and local partners who may require support with innovation programmes, trials, demonstrations or subsequent stages of technology development.
- Build stakeholder confidence in CPC and strengthen the organisation's reputation as a trusted innovation partner.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
