Consultant Opportunities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Two Consultant opportunities have become available within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTH).
About the Role
We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic and committed Obstetricians to join our friendly and forward-thinking team. These are full-time Consultant posts, with participation in the on-call and hot-week rotas.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate maternity care and who are keen to contribute to the continued development of our service.

Key Responsibilities
- Daytime obstetric commitments would include antenatal clinic, labour ward sessions, obstetric hot week and caesarean section surgical lists.
- The successful candidates will be job planned to support governance and teaching roles to support the running and development of the department.
- The posts are for 10 Programmed Activities. The exact distribution of PA will depend on the successful applicant’s skills and interests.

Requirements
- All consultants are expected to work productively for 42 weeks a year and will be required to undertake annual appraisal, revalidation and job planning within their allocated contractual core SPA time (1.5 SPA per week).
- Any SPA activity over 1.5 will be in line with the trust SPA tariff and will be reviewed as part of the annual job planning process.
- The successful applicants would provide obstetric non-resident on call cover and live within 30 mins travel time of the hospital.
About Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
LTH is a teaching hospital serving a local population of 450,000 across Greater Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. The Trust has approximately 4,500 births annually and a level three neonatal unit. We provide Bluebell and Rainbow clinics, fetal medicine and services for high-risk pregnancies as the Maternal Medicine Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are privileged to work closely with a nationally recognised, award winning team of midwives dedicated to improving the birth experience for all women. We offer all four choices for place of birth. There are midwifery led birth units at both Royal Preston Hospital and at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital and a 12 bedded obstetric unit in Royal Preston Hospital. There is a thriving home birth service, provided by a continuity of carer team and the Maternity Unit Network awarded the maternity service with Beacon Status because of the successful midwifery led services.

LTH is delighted to provide undergraduate education for the University of Manchester and the University of Lancashire. We provide academic and pastoral support to over 350 medical students in their clinical years 3, 4 and 5. We have three well equipped education centres to support undergraduate and postgraduate training.
