Job Description
Overview
The Consultant of Retirement, Savings & Financial Wellbeing will support the oversight and governance of the Company’s UK and Europe defined benefit (DB) retirement plans, global employee share plan, and financial wellbeing programmes. The role has direct oversight, and responsibility for the delivery, of the DB pensions arrangements in the UK&E region. The Company has several DB plans in the UK, including the Atkins Pension Plan, which will form a large focus for this role.
This role will ensure compliance with DB pension regulatory requirements, coordination of external pension scheme advisers and trustees, and acts as a point of contact for employee queries.
The role reports to, and supports, the Director in their role leading on the company’s global Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOP) and financial wellness strategies. In this capacity, collation of local regions’ practices and administrative assistance will be required from time to time.
Your Role
- First point of contact for the UK DB pension plans for trustees and advisers. Oversee day‑to‑day DB pension operations. Includes coordination and oversight of advisers, tracking service delivery, employee queries, and project progress.
- Attendance at trustee meetings for the Atkins Pension Plan. Secretarial support services are provided via external outsourced provider, but close working with the secretarial support team expected.
- Agenda and business planning, follow up on actions, and adviser budget approvals and invoice sign offs.
- While the external outsourced administrator would usually be the principal point of contact for scheme members, this role will also be an alternative point of contact for employee queries relating to DB pensions.
- Assist with member communications and oversight of external outsourced administration provider.
- Maintain accurate records, trackers, and governance documentation to support internal business reporting.
- Provide a link to payroll and wider rewards team, as required, in relation to DB pension schemes.
- Support global retirement, share plan, and financial wellbeing activities through coordination, data gathering, and documentation.
- Assist with coordination for year‑end accounting, board assurance inputs, and preparation of materials for governance meetings.
- Liaise with Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Legal/CoSec teams to follow up on actions and manage information flow.
- Provide analytical and administrative support for M&A due‑diligence and integration tasks.
- Support delivery of UK & Europe DB pension strategy through research, data preparation, and coordination with advisers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
