The Opportunity
Help shape the future of transport across the UK.
At Stantec, our transport modellers work on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, city-region and development projects. From strategic transport investment programmes and rail schemes to airport expansion, urban regeneration and decarbonisation initiatives, our work influences how millions of people connect with places, opportunities and services.
Stantec is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant or Senior Consultant Transport Modeller to join our growing Transport Modelling team in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham or Edinburgh.
About The Role
You’ll join a well-established team delivering exciting transport projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Our team combines expertise in strategic modelling, microsimulation, appraisal, business case development, data analytics and digital innovation.
We work across VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, EMME, Paramics, VISSIM, Aimsun, Python, GIS and Power BI, while continually exploring new approaches to data science, AI and emerging mobility analytics.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Delivering technical modelling tasks for a range of clients, supporting junior team members where appropriate.
- Developing, calibrating, validating and applying strategic transport models.
- Using modelling outputs to support project appraisal, scheme development and strategic decision-making.
- Communicating modelling results clearly through reports, presentations and client discussions.
- Keeping up to date with transport policy, guidance and best practice.
- Providing technical guidance, training and oversight to junior modellers.
- Supporting project management activities, including fee proposals, tenders, team coordination, budgets and invoicing.
The role can be tailored to align with your technical interests, career ambitions and our wider business goals.
YOUR IMPACT
Your work will directly influence multimillion-pound investment decisions and help shape sustainable transport systems across the UK. You’ll provide evidence that informs policy, improves communities and supports the transition to a lower-carbon future.
You’ll help clients understand complex transport challenges and make informed decisions about infrastructure, investment and transport strategies, contributing to better-connected and more sustainable communities.
About You
We’re looking for a highly numerate and analytical transport modeller with strong technical skills and an interest in developing their career within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
