About Wellford Medical Clinics
Wellford Medical Clinics is a growing specialist clinic providing high-quality, patient-centred medical cannabis care. We support patients with a range of complex needs, including chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and other physical and mental health presentations. Our clinicians work closely with our patient support team to deliver safe, accessible, and compassionate care through assessment, consultation, prescription management, and ongoing clinical support. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team and play a key role in shaping excellent clinical outcomes for our patients.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is passionate about patient-centred care and interested in working within an innovative, well-governed specialist clinic. You will provide expert psychiatric assessment and clinical input, support safe and appropriate prescribing decisions, and contribute to the ongoing development of our clinical services. We are looking for someone who combines strong clinical judgement with warmth, professionalism, and a collaborative approach.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out comprehensive psychiatric assessments, reviewing medical history, symptoms, previous treatments, risk factors, and suitability for clinic services.
- Provide clear specialist psychiatric advice and recommendations to support safe, individualised treatment planning.
- Prescribe within your scope of practice, following relevant guidance, clinic policies, governance processes, and professional standards.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, caregivers, GPs, NHS services, private healthcare providers, and other external professionals where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in line with legal, regulatory, and professional requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage clinical risk, including safeguarding concerns, mental health deterioration, contraindications, and escalation requirements.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, non-medical prescribers, pharmacists, clinical support staff, and operational teams to ensure patients receive safe and coordinated care.
- Support clinical governance activities, including case discussions, prescribing oversight, audit, incident review, policy development, and continuous improvement of clinic services.
- Provide clinical supervision, advice, or mentoring to other clinicians where appropriate and within agreed governance structures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of safe, effective, and patient-focused pathways.
- Keep up to date with relevant clinical guidance, prescribing regulations, safeguarding requirements, and developments in medical cannabis care.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, clinical quality, and service efficiency.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethics, and patient safety in all aspects of the role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
