Freelance Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult ADHD Assessments

About Mentalwell

Mentalwell is a growing digital mental health service providing high-quality ADHD assessments across the UK. Through our private services and our expanding NHS Right-to-Choose pathway, we are committed to improving access to timely, evidence-based, patient-centred care for patients across England.

The Role

We are seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join our growing clinical team, delivering high-quality Adult ADHD assessments through our remote service. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will undertake comprehensive diagnostic assessments, review relevant clinical information, formulate evidence-based diagnostic decisions, and produce clear, high-quality clinical reports in line with NICE guidance and GMC standards.

You will play an essential role in delivering safe, patient-centred care while contributing to Mentalwell's commitment to clinical excellence, quality improvement, and robust clinical governance. Supported by an experienced operational team, you'll benefit from streamlined administrative processes, allowing you to focus on delivering outstanding clinical assessments. This is a freelance opportunity, allowing you to choose the days and sessions that best fit you. Whether you are looking to supplement your current work or take on a regular number of assessments each week, we offer the flexibility to create a schedule that works for you.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Adult ADHD assessments remotely, against DSM-5 diagnostic criteria using evidence-based clinical practice, in line with NICE guidelines and established UK standards.
  • Utilise a meticulous and patient-centric approach to ensure accurate diagnoses and support.
  • Produce clear, high-quality diagnostic reports and outcome letters.
  • Embrace technology to streamline the assessment process, contributing to the overall efficiency of our services.
  • Communicate diagnostic outcomes and recommendations sensitively and effectively.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the highest level of professionalism, ethics, and quality of care.
  • Participate in clinical governance, quality assurance, and peer review activities where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Specialisation and experience in assessing adults for ADHD.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Professional indemnity insurance.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work independently within a remote clinical environment.
  • Technologically proficient with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes.

Desirable

  • Experience working within NHS Right-to-Choose services.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
  • Experience delivering remote ADHD assessments.
  • Familiarity with digital clinical systems.
  • Understanding of NICE guidance relating to Adult ADHD.
