Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult
Location: South Coast
Salary: £170,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Pulse Psychiatry is currently recruiting for an experienced General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist private inpatient mental health service on the South Coast.
This is a permanent opportunity for a Consultant who is looking to work within an established adult acute inpatient service, providing high-quality psychiatric care while contributing to clinical leadership, governance, and ongoing service development.
The Role
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will take responsibility for the psychiatric care of patients admitted to an 18-bed mixed adult acute inpatient ward and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing Consultant psychiatric care for adult acute inpatients
- Completing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment planning
- Leading ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Supporting risk management, clinical reviews, and discharge planning
- Providing clinical leadership across the ward
- Supervising and supporting the Specialty Doctor
- Working closely with nursing, psychology, and wider MDT colleagues
- Contributing to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
- Supporting service development and senior management discussions
- Building effective relationships with NHS partners and commissioners
About You
We are looking to speak with experienced Consultant Psychiatrists who are confident working within adult acute inpatient services and comfortable taking responsibility for complex presentations.

You will need:
- Current GMC registration
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in a psychiatric specialty
- Approved Clinician status, or eligibility to apply
- Strong experience within UK acute inpatient psychiatry
- Experience working across NHS and/or independent mental health services
- Strong MDT, clinical leadership, and risk management skills
The role is ideally full-time at 37.5 hours per week, although part-time and job-share arrangements may also be considered.
Salary & Package
The role offers a salary of £170,000 per annum.
