Full Time - 37.5 Hours per week
Priory Hospital Cheadle is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our established Clinical team in Manchester. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the assessment, treatment and recovery of patients within our Female PICU setting.
Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 1–2 miles from the service.
What you'll be doing
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical responsibility and take overall responsibility for assessing, treating, and caring for patients. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure care is safe, effective, person-centred and focused on recovery.
You will also:
- Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
- Act as the Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
- Supervise the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
- Contribute to clinical governance, service development and strategic planning.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role
You will hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register. You will also have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
We are looking for someone with strong clinical knowledge and experience relevant to the specialty, who can work collaboratively within and lead a multidisciplinary team. You will demonstrate a commitment to shared leadership, continuous improvement and high-quality patient care, alongside evidence of ongoing professional development.
