Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist - Complex Autism and Neurodevelopmental Diagnoses

We are inviting applications for an exciting full-time (10PA), Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post in the Service for Complex Autism and Associated Neurodevelopmental Diagnoses within National Specialist CAMHS at the Maudsley. SCAAND provides specialist assessments and evidence-based treatments for children and young people with diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and neurodevelopmental conditions, especially those with mental health needs and other co-occurring conditions.

This will be a Fixed Term post for 12 months. The post would be of particular benefit for an applicant interested in developing their knowledge, experience, and skills in autism, before the post is advertised as a substantive SCAAND consultant psychiatrist post, likely to be full-time.

This post would be suitable for a wide range of psychiatrists, especially those with a background in neurodevelopmental disorders and/or intellectual disability/special needs community CAMHS. In addition to extensive opportunities to develop clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in child and adolescent autism, ADHD, and ID, there are also excellent opportunities for quality improvement activities, research, teaching, and training.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
