Fixed Term Consultant Psychiatrist
Responsible for providing clinical input & leadership to Liaison Psychiatry for Working Age Adult based at Frimley Park Hospital & working alongside a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working.
About the Role
The liaison service has been a well-established service providing liaison inputs for many years. In addition, the directorate offers Liaison Psychiatry services within Surrey's five major District General Hospitals. There has been considerable focus & interest in Liaison services by commissioners, & the post holder will work alongside the managers on directly influencing the delivery of services to the Acute Hospital to suit local needs in East Surrey, Epsom General, Frimley Park, Royal Surrey County & St. Peter's Hospitals.

Responsibilities
The Consultant will support the existing staff in assessing, diagnosing & managing referrals for Working Age Adults presenting with mental health problems & to provide medical expertise & support to Frimley Park Hospital staff involved in looking after patients with adult mental health presentations.

In addition, the Consultant will:
- Supervise the clinical caseload of the team members & the work of any trainee doctors who may be attached to the service
- Support the existing liaison team in deciding the most appropriate intervention for patients referred to the service
- Facilitate discharge planning & timely communication with Primary Care, CMHRSs or Inpatient Services
- Involve the assessment & psychiatric treatment of patients directly or through the supervision of other team members
