The role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll provide specialist inpatient care for older adults with severe and enduring mental illness while helping drive innovation and service improvement across the Trust.
You'll:
- Lead the psychiatric care of older adult inpatients within a specialist multidisciplinary team
- Work alongside Specialty Doctors, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Support Workers
- Provide expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for complex mental health conditions
- Contribute to teaching, supervision and the development of future medical professionals
- Play an active role in service development and continuous quality improvement

About the service
Our Older Adult Mental Health Service includes specialist inpatient wards and dementia services, working closely with crisis, liaison and community teams to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
The service offers:
- Two Older Adult inpatient wards and a specialist dementia ward
- Strong multidisciplinary collaboration
- Teaching opportunities through Brighton & Sussex Medical School
- A supportive clinical leadership team committed to service innovation
What we're looking for
We're seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist who has:
- Full GMC registration and Specialist Registration (or within six months)
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- Broad psychiatric training with experience in older adult mental health
- Excellent leadership, communication and multidisciplinary working skills
- A commitment to teaching, service improvement and delivering compassionate care
