YPH - Neurofer is a specialist neurodevelopmental healthcare provider delivering high-quality ADHD and Autism assessment and support services for children, young people and adults.
As our services continue to grow, we are expanding our multidisciplinary clinical team and are looking to work with experienced Consultant Psychiatrists who share our commitment to safe, evidence-based, person-centred and neuro-affirming care.
The Role
We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists with experience and/or a specialist interest in ADHD, Autism and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychiatric expertise across our neurodevelopmental pathways. Depending on your experience and agreed scope of practice, this may include diagnostic assessment, clinical review, complex case discussion, differential diagnosis, treatment recommendations and clinical oversight.
The role offers a high degree of flexibility and is suitable for consultants looking to undertake additional clinical work alongside existing NHS, independent-sector or portfolio commitments.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Undertake comprehensive psychiatric and neurodevelopmental assessments for ADHD and/or Autism.
- Review relevant clinical history, developmental information, screening tools and supporting documentation.
- Consider differential and co-occurring mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making.
- Provide clear, evidence-based clinical recommendations following assessment.
- Undertake complex case reviews where Consultant Psychiatrist input is required.
- Work collaboratively with psychologists, specialist nurses, ADHD/Autism assessors and other members of the MDT.
- Produce clear, accurate and timely clinical documentation and reports.
- Communicate appropriately with patients, families, carers, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain appropriate safeguarding awareness and escalate concerns in accordance with Neurofer policies.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, supervision and quality-improvement activity where required.
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with GMC requirements and relevant professional guidance.
- Deliver care in accordance with relevant NICE guidance and evidence-based clinical practice.
- Support a positive, respectful and neuro-affirming experience for every patient accessing our services.

Person Specification
Essential
Applicants should:
- Hold a recognised medical qualification.
- Have full GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
- Be included on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry, or be able to demonstrate an appropriate equivalent level of consultant practice.
- Have significant experience working within Psychiatry.
- Have experience assessing and managing patients with neurodevelopmental and/or mental health presentations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of ADHD, Autism, differential diagnosis and common co-occurring conditions.
- Have excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Produce high-quality clinical documentation and reports.
- Understand safeguarding responsibilities for adults and/or children and young people, depending on the pathway delivered.
- Maintain appropriate professional indemnity.
- Be committed to patient safety, clinical governance and continuous professional development.
- Previous experience delivering ADHD and/or Autism assessments.
- Experience working within specialist neurodevelopmental services.
- Experience assessing adults and/or children and young people with ADHD or Autism.
- Experience of independent-sector, NHS commissioned or digitally delivered healthcare services.
- Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to ADHD and Autism.
- Experience participating in neurodevelopmental MDTs.
- Experience managing complex presentations and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
- Additional training or qualifications relevant to ADHD, Autism or neurodevelopmental practice.
- Experience providing clinical supervision, leadership or governance support.
