Consultant Radiologist with an Interest in Thoracic Radiology
Job Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Thoracic Radiology to work across the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (UHL) in Cardiff.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to further develop the existing Body imaging service within the Health Board.
Responsibilities
- Share in the responsibilities for delivering general and specialist training and medical education both at a postgraduate and undergraduate level within the Health Board and within Cardiff University.
Qualifications
- Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
Salary
- The basic salary range for this post is £114099 per annum to £166585 per annum.
Application Requirements
- Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full.
- In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

About the Service
- The Body imaging service is currently provided by radiologists with sub-specialty interests ranging from gastrointestinal, nuclear medicine and paediatric imaging.
- The service includes radiologists providing body with head and neck imaging, thoracic radiologists who provide specialist thoracic imaging plus pure body radiologists who provide body CT and MRI imaging.
- A contribution to the general body radiology service will be required.
Training and Education
- The All Wales Radiology Training Scheme and radiology StR’s are based at UHW and work closely with the Consultant Radiologists to provide a reliable continuous on-call service.
- This teaching requirement is an important aspect of the Consultant’s job plan and workload.
- Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
- Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.
Working Conditions
