Our Economics and Regulation practice is looking for an experienced Consultant or Senior Consultant to join the team.

We are looking for Consultants and Senior Consultants to join one of the UK’s largest specialist regulatory economics teams. We advise energy, water, and other regulated-industry clients, as well as governments, regulators, and investors, on complex regulatory, policy, and investment decisions. Our work includes price controls, regulatory strategy and submissions, utility business planning, market and incentive design, decarbonisation programmes, investment cases, and wider economic analysis. You will gain exposure to major infrastructure and energy-transition challenges across multiple sectors, working alongside collaborative specialists to turn robust analysis into practical, high-impact recommendations.

What you will be doing

  • Delivering regulatory economics and policy projects for clients across energy, water, and other regulated and infrastructure sectors.
  • Helping energy and water regulators and Government Departments develop and implement policy and regulation.
  • Analysing regulatory frameworks, policy proposals, incentives, and complex datasets to draw clear conclusions and make practical recommendations.
  • Building, owning, and maintaining robust models to support regulatory and investment decisions.
  • Producing clear, regulator-ready reports, consultation responses, and regulatory submissions, as well as concise presentations for executive audiences.
  • Managing defined workstreams, coordinating inputs, maintaining quality, and supporting delivery to agreed timescales.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and senior stakeholders, contributing ideas and constructive challenges throughout engagements.

You will work collaboratively across disciplines and sectors, bringing curiosity, commercial awareness, and fresh thinking to complex client problems.

At Senior Consultant level, you will take greater ownership of workstream delivery, lead client discussions, shape outputs, and support the development of junior colleagues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Putting People First

Baringa is a People First company, and wellbeing is at the forefront of our culture. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and flexible working and provide our staff amazing benefits. Some of these benefits include:

  • Generous Annual Leave Policy: We recognise everyone needs a well-deserved break. We provide our employees with 5 weeks of annual leave, fully available at the start of each year. In addition to this, we have introduced our 5-Year Recharge benefit which allows all employees an additional 2 weeks of paid leave after 5 years of continuous service.
  • Flexible Working: We know that the ‘ideal’ work-life balance will vary from person to person and change at different stages of our working lives. To accommodate this, we have implemented a hybrid working policy and introduced more flexibility around taking unpaid leave.
  • Corporate Responsibility Days: Our world is important to us, so all our employees get 3 every year to help social and environmental causes and increase our impact on the communities that mean the most to us.
  • Wellbeing Fund: We want to encourage all employees to take charge and prioritise their own wellbeing. We’ve introduced our annual People Fund to support this by offering every individual a fund to support and manage their wellbeing through an activity of their choice.
  • Profit Share Scheme: All employees participate in the Baringa Group Profit Share Scheme so everyone has a stake in the company’s success.

Diversity and Inclusion
