Consultant Urological Surgeon - Robotic Upper Urinary Tract Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery

We are inviting applications for a substantive Consultant Urological Surgeon with expertise in robotic upper urinary tract oncology and reconstructive surgery to join MFT Urology, one of the largest urology services in the UK.

This is a strategic appointment within One MFT Urology and an opportunity to join the service at an important point in its development. We are bringing together our teams, expertise and clinical pathways across Manchester to create a modern, high-quality urology service centred around patients rather than individual hospital sites.

The post is full-time (10 PAs). The successful candidate will join an established upper tract and robotic surgical team and will contribute to the delivery and further development of renal and upper urinary tract cancer surgery across MFT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist expertise in robotic renal and upper urinary tract surgery within the One MFT Urology service.
  • Contribute to renal and upper tract cancer multidisciplinary pathways and operative management, with an expectation of collaborative working across MFT and with The Christie where appropriate.
  • Perform robotic partial and radical nephrectomy and other renal cancer surgery appropriate to the appointee's expertise.
  • Manage upper urinary tract oncology and complex case selection.
  • Conduct robotic reconstructive upper tract surgery such as pyeloplasty and ureteric reimplantation where appropriately trained.
  • Develop and standardise enhanced recovery and peri-operative pathways.
  • Prospectively review surgical outcomes, complications, and patient experience.
  • Train and mentor in robotic surgery for trainees and colleagues.
  • Engage in research, innovation, and evaluation of new techniques and technologies.
  • Develop the service to improve access, capacity, efficiency, and resilience across MFT.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
