Aptia Consulting Actuary Opportunity
Aptia are looking for a Consulting Actuary to join the UK Pensions Consulting team, supporting either our Corporate Consulting or Risk Transfer practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-profile pension projects, partner with leading organisations, and play a key role in delivering strategic advice to trustees and corporate sponsors.
This is a hybrid position and can align with any Aptia UK office.
Role Overview
As a Consulting Actuary, you'll work closely with clients and colleagues across the business to deliver high-quality actuarial and consulting solutions. Depending on your experience and interests, you'll focus on either:
Corporate Consulting
- Advising clients on scheme funding, pension strategy, accounting disclosures and risk management.
- Providing actuarial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Developing trusted relationships with corporate sponsors and trustees.
- Preparing reports, recommendations and presentations for clients.

Risk Transfer
- Supporting the delivery of bulk annuity and other pension de-risking transactions.
- Managing insurer engagement and quotation exercises.
- Analysing pricing and settlement options to help clients achieve their objectives.
- Working on transaction implementation and post-deal advisory support.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering actuarial calculations, analysis and client advice across a range of pension projects.
- Managing workstreams and ensuring delivery to agreed timescales and quality standards.
- Building strong relationships with trustees, corporate sponsors, insurers and internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to business development, proposals and market research activities.
- Collaborating with administration, project and actuarial teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Supporting the development of tools, methodologies and best practice within the business.
- Mentoring and supporting actuarial trainees and junior colleagues.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced pensions professional who combines strong technical capabilities with excellent consulting skills.
You'll ideally have:
- FIA qualification (or equivalent), or working towards one.
- Experience within UK defined benefit pensions consulting.
- Experience supporting corporate consulting and/or pension risk transfer projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK pensions legislation and actuarial principles.
- Experience producing actuarial calculations, reports and client-facing communications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A commercial mindset and passion for delivering exceptional client outcomes.
