About the Role

At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

We're looking for a Consumer Insight and Experience Manager to join our Data, Insight and Performance (DIP) directorate on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering an internal secondment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced researcher to play a pivotal role in ensuring decisions across Marketing, Fundraising, and Engagement are informed by robust consumer insight and a strong understanding of audience needs, motivations, and experiences.

Working alongside the Senior Managers in the Consumer Insight and Experience team, you'll lead insight projects to understand the attitudes and behaviors of our audiences and translate insight into actionable recommendations to inform proposition development and strategies.

You'll combine strong research expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate evidence into compelling recommendations that influence decision-making across the organisation.

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Manage primary and secondary insight research projects, including commissioning market research agencies, establishing clear project objectives, managing project timelines, and overseeing costs and data quality checks to ensure projects deliver robust and actionable research findings.
  • Carry out end-to-end market research projects in-house, managing the development of research materials, sampling, analysis, and report writing.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, working closely with them to understand their insight requirements and ambitions, and providing guidance on the most appropriate insight projects or programmes of work to meet their goals.
  • Collaborate across Data, Insight, and Performance teams to provide joined-up delivery and understanding of insight.
  • Work as part of the Consumer Insight and Experience team to manage the package of insight products and tools (including tracking programmes and Supporter Panel) ensuring the value of these tools is optimised.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

All internal candidates applying for a secondment must have:

  • completed their getting started period
  • discussed their intention to apply and gained approval to apply with their line manager
  • been in their substantive (home) role for at least 6 months (this is only applicable if you have previously been on secondment)

If you do not confirm that you meet these requirements, we will not be able to progress your application.

We want to see every candidate performing at their best throughout the job application process, interview process, and whilst at work. We therefore ask you to inform us of any concerns you have or any adjustments you might need to enable this to happen. Please contact recruitment@cancer.org.uk or 020 3469 8400 as soon as possible.
