What you will do

At Kenvue, we are passionate about developing Early Talent. We're excited to be recruiting for 4x Consumer & Shopper Insights placements. This placement is the foundation of how we plan for our brands & our customers, you'll turn data, surveys and consumer information into key outputs for our teams to make decisions with.

What is Consumer & Shopper Insights?

This is the function that explores and generates the insights on consumer and/or shopper views and behaviours that feed business decision-making at Kenvue. Our function is comprised of Shopper, Consumer and Analytics insights specialists who run research to harness a wealth of data and insight to answer business questions for the Marketing team, Category Management team and Leadership/the wider business. We answer questions such as:

  • What are the trends that will impact Kenvue’s brands, categories and the retail landscape in the future?
  • What’s driving the current performance of our brands/ our newly launched products?
  • What’s the impact of macro trends on our brand/category performance (eg, the cost of living crisis, the pandemic)
  • Which claim is the best one to use when I advertise my product?
  • How many consumers would be interested in the idea that I have for a new product/service/campaign?
  • Which of these options for my instore display is the best one?
  • How do shoppers shop my category? How should it be laid out as a result?
  • Where do consumers see/engage with our brands and how should we think about our investment decisions as a result?
  • How do we bring the outside into Kenvue and represent the voice of the consumer and shopper in key decisions and ensuring we have context on our competitors and if/how they are winning

Example Placement activities in recent years:

  • Designing a survey to analyse the Cost of Living consumer trends, which provided insights that were utilised by a wide range of users within the business
  • Consumer Closeness interviews with Suncare buyers, to better understand their shopping habits after COVID-19
  • Store audit of several retailers to explore their Health and Wellness offering to prepare for the launch of a new brand
  • Providing consumer insight on the packaging and claims on our new EDLP (Everyday Low Price) ranges to help consumers who are impacted by the Cost of Living Crisis
  • Setting up and using an agile research platform to deliver quick research to support and validate key business questions
  • Helping to run the Brand Equity program across the full range of categories across the business, to track and understand changes in key metrics such as awareness and consideration of our brands.

What You Will Do

Our CBI placements are responsible for supporting the broader CBI team with larger, strategic projects, as well as having direct ownership of smaller projects

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end project management, including designing, programming (with external suppliers) and analysing research
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on upcoming and existing projects
  • Connecting the dots between different research studies and datasets to identify the wider implications for the business
  • Being accountable for yearly budget tracking and raising PO’s (Purchase Orders)
  • Logging research projects on our central system and following compliance procedures
  • Contributing to team

What We Are Looking For

  • Confidence with analysing numerical data – ability to think critically and independently
  • Planning and organizing skills, efficiency, and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Natural curiosity – a passion for understanding consumer/shopper behaviour
  • The ability to build strong, trusting and collaborative relationships and become an integral part of our team
  • High levels of proactivity and personal accountability / drive for results

What’s In It For You

  • Breadth of experience – you will work on a large range of our exciting brands and categories, not just one particular area!
  • Have a real impact every day– our research influences key decisions at the board level. Within CBI we give our placements as much responsibility as they prove they can handle so you will work on and ultimately lead on real projects that have real value to the business
  • Variety – every project is different and we use a large range of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies; from writing surveys, observing focus groups to eye tracking research within virtual stores in our cutting-edge shopper science lab! You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of projects, work with various teams and learn from other members of the team. We’re always trialing new approaches, so you’ll have the opportunity to experiment, learn and grow with us
  • Being part of a fantastic team - CBI is known for being a tight knit, supportive and fun team! We typically have 4 placements so you will usually have a day-to-day buddy, as well as have a ready-made peer group of around 30 placements across the different functions

  • Flexibility- typically Kenvue works to a hybrid model with office days in the Reading office typically 2 or 3 days per week (depending on meetings) or more if you prefer an office environment to working from home!
