Position: Customer Adviser
Location: Stevenage (Fully On-Site)
Working Pattern: Full Time (Shifts between 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, with one Saturday approximately every 8-12 weeks)
Start Date: 17/09/2026
What You'll Do
As a Customer Adviser, you will be the first point of contact for Hertfordshire citizens and businesses eager to access council services. Your role will encompass:
- Handling diverse customer inquiries through telephone and e-Service channels
- Providing accurate advice and assistance with a friendly demeanour
- Logging customer requests efficiently and effectively
- Supporting the digitization of services to enhance user experience
- Ensuring compliance with agreed processes to maintain high standards of service delivery
What We're Looking For
We seek individuals with a strong skill set, including:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Both verbal and written, with the ability to converse comfortably with the public
- Good Telephone Skills: A pleasant phone manner that promotes a positive customer interaction
- Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in a contact centre or customer-facing role is a plus!
- PC Literacy: Strong keyboard skills and comfort with technology
- Multi-Channel Proficiency: Familiarity with webchat and social media platforms for customer engagement
- Resilience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service to ensure a smooth customer care journey
- Capture and maintain accurate customer data with attention to detail
- Assess claims and respond to inquiries via electronic communication
- Collaborate with the team to achieve individual and group targets
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and established processes
- Evidence of Access NI application number and cleared Access NI certificate
- Verified Right to Work documentation
