About The Role
We are currently recruiting a pool of candidates for anticipated intakes over the next 6-12 months.
As a Contact Centre Adviser, you’ll be the first point of contact for people of Stevenage needing help, advice and access to a wide range of Council Services. From Housing to Council Tax queries, missed bins to emergency repairs, no two days are ever the same.
Primarily a telephony-based role, you’ll receive full training and ongoing support to help you build the skills needed to navigate complex systems, offer accurate information, and deliver excellent service, even under pressure. Some calls will be routine, others urgent or emotionally challenging. Either way, your empathy, patience and professionalism will help you resolve issues and leave our customers feeling heard, helped and respected.
We are looking for individuals who can stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing demands, and remain focused on providing excellent customer service, even during the busiest periods.
To succeed in the role, you’ll need excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a customer-facing or call centre environment is essential, and you should be confident in using a range of systems and inputting information with accuracy and speed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
