SmartResilience

SmartResilience is a fast-growing SaaS climate adaptation company trusted by global blue-chip organisations to understand, manage and reduce physical climate risk. We work across food, healthcare, infrastructure and other complex sectors, turning sophisticated climate data into practical intelligence that helps organisations protect their people, places and operations.

Following recent investment, with strong client retention and growing market momentum, we are looking for a Content and Communities Manager to build our voice, create genuinely useful content and grow an engaged community around climate resilience.

This is a remote-first, part-time or full-time role for someone experienced enough to work independently, get to grips with complex subject matter and turn it into content people actually want to engage with.

About the role

Climate risk is becoming an increasingly important boardroom issue – but it can quickly become technical, abstract or difficult to communicate. Your job will be to make it relevant.

You'll work closely with our technical experts to uncover the stories, insights and evidence within SmartResilience's data, technology and client work, then turn them into compelling content across media partnerships, PR, owned channels and community activity.

One week that might mean interrogating a new dataset and finding the media story within it. Another could involve developing content for a media partnership, interviewing a client, creating a LinkedIn series or organising a roundtable for sustainability and risk leaders.

We don't want someone who simply executes a predetermined content calendar. We want someone experienced enough to have a point of view about what will work – and open-minded enough to recognise when the evidence suggests changing direction.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll join a small, friendly, expert, remote-first team. You’ll have strategic support and technical knowhow at your fingers through our team of fractional experts.

What you will own

  • Content: Create reports, articles, case studies, social content, newsletters and other formats that turn complex subjects into clear, engaging stories.
  • Media partnerships: Develop original content, research, events and campaigns with relevant media and industry partners.
  • PR and thought leadership: Identify strong stories within our data, client work and expertise and turn them into credible media opportunities.
  • Owned channels: Develop our presence across LinkedIn, our website, email and other relevant platforms.
  • Community: Build relationships with senior sustainability, risk and operational leaders, creating opportunities for them to share knowledge and engage with SmartResilience.
  • Owned events: Develop our programme of roundtables, webinars, breakfasts and other events that bring this community together and create valuable content in their own right.
  • Measurement and optimisation: Understand what resonates with our audiences and use those insights to shape what we do next.

What we are looking for

We're less concerned about a particular job-title history than finding someone who combines editorial instinct, intellectual curiosity and commercial judgement.

You'll probably have 3-5 years' experience in content, communications, PR, journalism, B2B marketing or a related discipline and be comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for a detailed brief. If you love the sound of the role but have more experience, we’d still love to talk with you.

You'll be:

  • An excellent writer and storyteller, able to communicate with senior business audiences without resorting to corporate jargon.
  • Confident working with technical experts, asking intelligent questions and distilling complex information without oversimplifying it.
  • Naturally curious, with an instinct for finding the surprising statistic, useful insight or human story within a larger piece of work.
  • Comfortable working across PR, editorial, social, partnerships and events.
  • Commercially minded, understanding how great content can build reputation, relationships and demand.
  • Independent, collaborative and organised, with the maturity to thrive in a remote-first environment and the confidence to challenge ideas when needed.

Experience in climate, sustainability, risk, technology, financial services or another technical or regulated sector would be useful, but isn't essential. The ability and appetite to learn the detail is.

Why this role

SmartResilience is entering an exciting phase of growth, with proven technology, blue-chip clients, strong client retention and recent investment behind our next stage.

You'll have access to genuinely interesting data, expert colleagues and real-world examples of organisations responding to a changing climate – and significant freedom to decide how best to turn those ingredients into content and conversations that matter.

The role is deliberately part-time, flexible and remote-first. It's an opportunity for an experienced content or communications professional to do meaningful, intellectually interesting work with real autonomy, without needing a traditional five-day office role.
