CONTENT DESIGNER

£40,000 - £45,000 salary
North East / Scotland based – with on-site attendance approximately once a month
Turn complex policy and “government-speak” into clear, accessible content that works for users
Opportunity to contribute to content strategy as well as hands-on content design and delivery

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client delivers digital and transformation programmes within the Public Sector, helping organisations create clearer, more accessible and user-focused services. Working across multidisciplinary teams, they combine content, research, design and technology to improve how users interact with essential services. Due to continued demand for their services, they are looking for an experienced Content Designer to join the team.

THE CONTENT DESIGNER ROLE:

As a Content Designer, you will transform complex policy and government terminology into clear, accessible and user-focused online content. You’ll use user research, data analytics and usability testing to understand user needs and ensure content is effective.

Working closely with User Researchers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers, policy teams and subject matter experts, you’ll develop and improve content throughout the service lifecycle. You’ll balance accuracy with usability, champion accessibility and inclusion, and contribute to wider content strategy and architecture.

CONTENT DESIGNER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Proven experience working as a Content Designer, ideally within Public Sector / Government environments
  • Strong writing and editing skills, translating complex information into clear, accessible content
  • Experience with content management and content architecture
  • Ability to use user research, analytics and usability testing to inform content decisions
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based design
  • Experience working within agile and iterative design environments
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with policy teams and subject matter experts
  • Ability to contribute to content strategy
