Content Designer – Contract
Location: London (on-site 2x per month)
Duration: 6 months, ASAP start
Rate: TBC, Outside IR35
Brio Digital is searching for a Content Designer to join our client's team on a contract basis (outside IR35). You will support content design on a Central Government programme via a delivery partner, setting standards and guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver clear, accessible, user-centred services.
What you'll do as a Content Designer
- Support the content design approach across the programme, setting direction, standards and ways of working.
- Work closely with user researchers, service designers, interaction designers and product managers to shape end-to-end services.
- Use research and data to identify user needs and continually improve content.
- Make sure content meets the GOV.UK style guide, GDS Service Standard and accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.2 AA).
- Represent content design in service assessments and with senior stakeholders, and challenge decisions constructively where needed.

What we're looking for in a Content Designer
- Proven experience as a Content Designer within Central Government or the wider public sector.
- Track record of taking services through GDS service assessments (Alpha, Beta or Live).
- Experience in developing content within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Expert writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex policy and legislation into plain English.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
- Experience with content management systems and the GOV.UK Design System.
- Confident stakeholder management, including with policy and legal teams.

- Experience with Figma, Mural or prototyping tools.
- Experience of content strategy or information architecture at programme level.
- Active SC clearance (or eligibility).
