We are Hiring: Content Designer

Location: Hackney, London
Rate: £233.75/day Umbrella
Level: HEO/SEO equivalent
Sector: UK Public Sector / Local Government

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Content Designer to join an agile, multidisciplinary team delivering simpler, clearer and more accessible public services. You will design user-centred content across end-to-end service journeys, using research, analytics and testing to improve user outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and test content across complete user journeys and service lifecycles.
  • Produce clear, accessible and plain-English content for digital services.
  • Work collaboratively with UX/UI designers, developers and user researchers.
  • Use user research, analytics and evidence to inform content decisions.
  • Prototype, test and iterate content based on user feedback.
  • Apply accessibility standards, including WCAG and assistive-technology considerations.
  • Develop and maintain content patterns, style guides and governance.
  • Manage stakeholders and influence content decisions across multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Criteria

  • 3+ years' professional Content Design experience.
  • Direct UK Public Sector experience — local or central government.
  • Proven experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong user-centred content design and plain-English writing skills.
  • Experience with end-to-end user journeys and service design.
  • Strong accessibility knowledge and experience designing inclusive content.
  • Experience using user research, analytics and evidence to shape content.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience with content governance, style guides and content patterns.
  • Experience prototyping and testing content.
