About the role
We're looking for a Content Designer to join a project delivering an internal messaging tool for a government client. This is a contract position for someone who can bring clear, user-focused content thinking to a sensitive, high-profile public sector environment. You will start in October 2026.
This role requires active SC Clearance. Please only apply if you currently hold this clearance.
What you'll do
- Design and write clear, consistent content for an internal messaging platform used across a government organisation
- Work closely with user researchers, designers, and product managers to shape content that meets real user needs
- Develop and maintain content standards, style guides, and tone of voice for the platform
- Structure information so it is easy to find and understand, including navigation and taxonomy work
- Test content with users and iterate based on feedback and evidence
- Collaborate with technical teams to make sure content works well within the product's constraints

What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a content designer, UX writer or similar, ideally within government or public sector digital services
- Comfortable working to GDS content style and plain English principles
- Experience designing content for internal communications tools or platforms
- Strong collaboration skills, able to work with cross-functional teams including researchers, designers, and developers
- Active SC Clearance is required for this role

Nice to have
- Experience with information architecture and content structuring
- Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG
