CONTENT DESIGNER – £55,000 – BRISTOL – REMOTE (WITH OCCASIONAL TRAVEL TO CLIENT SITE IN TAUNTON) – SC REQUIRED
MERITUS are recruiting for a Content Designer to join a leading organisation delivering complex UK Central Government and Defence programmes.
This role would suit an experienced Content Designer, UX Writer or Content Specialist with strong writing skills, accessibility knowledge and a user-centred approach. Experience with content strategy, user research and wider experience design would be highly beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Create clear, accessible and user-centred content.
- Work across the service lifecycle to understand user needs.
- Shape content strategy and improve information architecture.
- Write, test and iterate content based on user feedback.
- Collaborate closely with user researchers, interaction designers and service designers.
- Ensure content is treated as a core part of the user experience.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive content principles.

Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- SC Clearance
- Strong commercial experience in Content Design / UX Writing.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
- Awareness of content strategy and information architecture.
- Confidence testing content with users.
- Strong stakeholder and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Desirable:
- UK Central Government, Defence or regulated-sector experience.
- Knowledge of GDS / GOV.UK service standards.
- Experience with user research and usability testing.
- Awareness of interaction, service or experience design.
