Would you like to play a key role in supporting the growth of preprints while helping researchers share trusted, high-quality scientific knowledge with the world?
About Our Team
Our STMJ (Science, Technology, and Medical Journals) team publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that drives progress across scientific and medical disciplines. We collaborate closely with authors, editors, reviewers, and societies to ensure the integrity and impact of the published work. Through innovation in editorial workflows and publishing technology, we help global research communities discover, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge that advances science and improves lives.
About The Role

You will also contribute reporting, analysis, and projects that promote excellence in preprinting across the medical and life sciences disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with other Content Editors to ensure the smooth running of the medical queues such that turnaround times are met
- Prevent the posting of medical preprints that may cause harm and ensure that appropriate ethics, funding and COIs are provided
- Work with journal partners such as Preprints with The Lancet to support their editorial policies as well as working on any reporting and/or projects
- Liaise with the Policy and Partnerships Manager over funders and their policies and provide reporting on Gates Foundation preprints as well as those from other funders
- Liaise with the Research Integrity Manager over submissions or submitters that pose a reputational risk for Elsevier and SSRN
- Liaise with the Production and Product teams over changes in policies and approaches for identifying bad content in the medical and life science disciplines
- Deliver reporting on growth within the medical preprints area
- Contribute to projects that promote excellence in preprinting

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
