Content Manager
Location
UK or Poland (Residents only – relocation and sponsorship not provided)
Role Purpose
The Content Manager will ensure:
- The safe, compliant, and organised storage and management of British Council intellectual property.
- The latest versions of content and assets are available to the business.
- Secure and easy access to assets when needed.
- Effective management of legal rights for British Council assets and third-party intellectual property.
Role Context
This role is part of a team responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and performing performance management of digital and analogue products supporting [For Schools / Higher Education / Work] propositions.
- Ensuring the right product mix, quality, and innovation aligns with strategic direction set by Proposition Directors.
- Delivering commercially viable, scalable, and customer-aligned solutions.
Main Accountabilities
Content and Asset Management
- Collaborates with Learning & Assessment Designers, Content Creation, and Product Managers, alongside the Taxonomy Lead, to:
- Follow robust secure storage, retrieval, and version management processes for content and assets related to English language learning and assessment products.
- Apply appropriate metadata tags and platforms for secure storage, while ensuring maximum reuse of content and minimal risk of intellectual property loss.
- Manages third-party content and asset suppliers to ensure:
- Compliance with contracts, including use type, impressions, and other terms.
- Prompt delivery of assets for various use cases.
- Works with the British Council Intellectual Property Manager to enforce best practices on IP within the English & Exams business.
- Ensures all assets reflect the British Council’s equality, diversity and inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility requirements by:
- Representing diverse subjects.
- Upholding accessibility standards.

Project Management / Commercial and Resource Management
- Develops, trains, and embeds:
- Tools, systems, documents and processes for best practice in content and asset management.
- Monitors and reports:
- Schedules, project progress, budgets, resourcing for asset-related projects.
- Supports internal monitoring and evaluation of publishing procedures.
Customer and Market Focus
- Responds to stakeholder issues and requests in a timely, appropriate manner.
Risk and Compliance
- Ensures adherence to:
- Standards for taxonomies, metadata, project management, collaboration, file storage, distribution, and administrative systems.
- Contractual permissions, copyright and supplier compliance.
- Risk, request, issue, and product release management.
- Maintains standardised tools, systems and processes across the unit.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management
- Facilitates effective communication and collaboration between:
- Team members.
- External suppliers.
- Enforces an unified approach across the British Council for product development by closely collaborating with both UK and overseas stakeholders.

Leadership and Management
- Plans and prioritises own work to ensure timely delivery of responsibilities and programme objectives.
- Provides training and development to staff to build capacity.
Key Requirements
- Written and verbal fluency in English.
- First degree or equivalent in a related field or relevant experience.
Certifications and Qualifications
- Desirable: Project management qualification (e.g., Prince2, Agile).
Language and Location
- Full-time residency in the UK or Poland plus unlimited right to work.
Experience
Minimum (Essential)
- Experience in content and asset management (digital and print product development).
- Experience engaging with dispersed remote teams.
Desirable
- Background in professional ELT or educational publishing.
- Knowledge of English language teaching.

- Annual Salary:
- Poland: PLN 192,000 – 252,000
- UK: £38,000 – £46,000
