Content Marketing Manager (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)
Salary: £28,000–£30,000 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term (6 months)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Sussex Innovation, Falmer, Brighton (Sussex Innovation operates a Hybrid working policy with a minimum of 3 days working from our Falmer office per week)
Contract dates: Monday 7 September 2026 – Monday 1 March 2027 (an earlier start date is possible)

The Role
Working closely with the Deputy CEO and the wider marketing team, you'll help deliver Sussex Innovation's marketing activity across our digital channels. You'll take the lead on planning and creating engaging content, managing our social media channels, developing website and email content, supporting integrated marketing campaigns and helping to grow our online community. While you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality marketing content, you'll be supported by an experienced marketing team who will work alongside you to develop campaign ideas, messaging and priorities. We're looking for someone who enjoys collaborating, takes ownership of delivery and can confidently manage multiple marketing projects.
Key Responsibilities
Content Marketing & Brand
- Plan, create and publish engaging B2B marketing content across Sussex Innovation's digital channels.
- Work collaboratively with the Deputy CEO and marketing team to deliver integrated marketing campaigns that support business objectives.
- Manage Sussex Innovation's social media channels, including content scheduling, photography and monthly performance reporting.
- Produce high-quality written and visual content for social media, websites, email campaigns and promotional materials.
- Design professional branded marketing assets using Canva, including social media graphics, event posters, digital adverts, presentations, programme invitations and campaign materials.
- Ensure all marketing content reflects Sussex Innovation's brand guidelines and visual identity.
- Support colleagues by reviewing branded content to maintain consistency across the organisation.
- Lead production of the fortnightly Members' Digest.

Community Engagement & LinkedIn
- Take ownership of growing and engaging Sussex Innovation's LinkedIn community.
- Build meaningful relationships with our target audiences through regular engagement with innovative businesses, founders, professional service firms, members and tenants.
- Proactively identify and connect with prospective businesses and key decision-makers using LinkedIn Premium.
- Deliver thoughtful outreach to priority audiences through personalised LinkedIn engagement where appropriate.
- Regularly like, comment on and share relevant content to increase Sussex Innovation's visibility and strengthen relationships within our innovation ecosystem.
- Monitor LinkedIn analytics and reporting to understand engagement and continually improve performance.
Digital Marketing
- Maintain and update website content
- Support SEO improvements through keyword research and content optimisation.
- Assist with CRM management and marketing administration.
- Use Hubspot to schedule content and Google Analytics/LinkedIn Native analytics to monitor campaign performance and report on social media activity.
- Monitor marketing performance across digital channels and provide regular insight into campaign effectiveness.
- Contribute ideas to continually improve marketing activity and audience engagement.
Community & Events
- Help strengthen Sussex Innovation's business community through regular engagement with tenants and members.
- Support the delivery and promotion of community events and networking activities.
- Coordinate the Monthly Marketing Club for Sussex Innovation members.
- Produce marketing collateral and promotional content for events before and after delivery.
About You
You'll be an experienced B2B marketer who enjoys creating excellent content and is equally comfortable writing compelling copy, designing eye-catching graphics and engaging with professional audiences online. You'll be organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities, while working collaboratively within a small, supportive marketing team. Most importantly, you'll be able to step into an established role and make an immediate contribution.
Essential Requirements
- At least three years' experience in B2B marketing roles.
- Proven experience creating and managing marketing content across multiple digital channels.
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
- Experience managing professional LinkedIn company pages.
- Experience using LinkedIn Premium for networking, outreach and audience engagement.
- Strong experience using Canva to produce high-quality branded marketing materials.
- Experience using LinkedIn Native Analytics and Google Analytics to schedule content and analyse campaign performance.
- Strong understanding of branding and visual communication.
- Experience using a website content management systems (CMS).
- Good understanding of SEO principles and content optimisation.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Confident working independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience
- Experience using HubSpot CRM and Marketing Hub
- Experience working within a small marketing team.
