Content Marketing Manager at The Social Shepherd
As Content Marketing Manager at The Social Shepherd, you’ll own our internal marketing strategy, growing the agency’s visibility, building our reputation and generating high-quality inbound leads.
This is not a traditional, corporate marketing role. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, social-first marketer who is full of ideas and has the confidence, creativity and energy to bring them to life.
You’ll understand social culture instinctively: what people are talking about, what makes them stop scrolling and how brands can join conversations without feeling forced. You’ll know the difference between content that has simply been “posted” and content that genuinely earns attention.
You’ll be equally comfortable shaping our wider marketing strategy with the Chief Commercial Officer and grabbing your phone to capture something happening around the agency. Whether you’re interviewing a team member for a podcast, filming behind-the-scenes content, scripting a paid social ad or turning an industry conversation into a sharp LinkedIn post, you’ll be ready to get stuck in and make things happen.
You’ll work autonomously while bringing together our social, creative and paid teams to activate ideas across TSS channels. We want someone who thinks differently, moves quickly and treats The Social Shepherd’s marketing with the same creativity and ambition we bring to our clients.
It’s an exciting time for The Social Shepherd, as we’ve recently launched new services in Social Commerce, we now have fully built-out teams in the UK and US, and are ramping up the size of our new business team to take on the additional lead volume.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- Own The Social Shepherd’s internal social content engine, developing ideas and turning them into relevant, engaging content that builds our brand and generates demand.
- Get out from behind the desk: capture content from around the agency, film team members on your phone and bring the people, personality and energy of TSS to our social channels.
- Create and publish reactive, behind-the-scenes and culture-led content at speed, spotting opportunities and acting on them without waiting for a perfect production setup.
- Work closely with our social, design, video and paid media teams, acting as an energetic internal client who can brief clearly, inspire great work and keep projects moving.
- Plan and support the production of our internal podcasts, owning the content pipeline, episode concepts, guest and topic research, shoot preparation and promotional strategy.
- Own the weekly newsletter end-to-end, writing useful, entertaining and opinionated copy that nurtures our database and drives inbound enquiries.
- Build the personal brands of our founders and leadership team, uncovering their perspectives and turning them into authentic, distinctive social content.
- Script thumb-stopping paid social creative for Meta and LinkedIn, combining strong hooks, sharp B2B messaging and a deep understanding of platform behaviour.
- Experiment with new formats, trends and creative approaches, continuously finding fresh ways to make The Social Shepherd stand out.
- Partner directly with the Chief Commercial Officer to turn broader growth objectives into an ambitious, actionable marketing plan.
- Track and report on performance across organic content, paid campaigns, newsletters and other marketing activity, using the results to improve what we create next.
- Support wider growth initiatives, including events, award entries, partnerships and PR opportunities.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 3–5+ years of experience in social media, content marketing, B2B marketing, agency marketing or a closely related role.
- A genuinely social-first mindset. You understand the platforms, the culture surrounding them and the behaviours that make content travel.
- An entrepreneurial, tenacious operator who sees an opportunity and runs with it. You’re happy working with a polished production crew, but you don’t need one to create something brilliant.
- The confidence and initiative to pick up your phone, approach people around the agency, shoot content and get it live.
- Strong filming and content creation experience, with a good eye for framing, storytelling and what will work natively on social.
- An exceptional copywriter who can move between witty social copy, a compelling LinkedIn hook, an insightful newsletter and a persuasive video script.
- Experience working on podcasts, or a real passion for the format, and a clear understanding of what makes an episode worth watching and sharing.
- Someone culturally curious who keeps up with social trends, internet culture, creators, brands and emerging formats. Someone who knows when to follow the trend and when to break the mould.
- A creative thinker who enjoys experimenting, challenging predictable B2B marketing and bringing unexpected ideas to the table.
- A proactive and autonomous person who can take a broad objective, work out what needs to happen and drive it through to completion.
- A strong collaborator who can bring energy to a room, win people over and make colleagues want to participate in content.
- Someone organised enough to manage multiple projects and deadlines without losing the spontaneity that great social content requires.
- A lively, positive and energetic teammate who wants to be part of agency life, not simply market it from the sidelines.
- Someone ambitious, growth-minded and excited by the opportunity to develop into a future Head of Marketing or Marketing Director.
- Most importantly, someone who gets what The Social Shepherd is about: socially obsessed, creatively ambitious, commercially sharp and never afraid to try something new.
