We're looking for an experienced Content Operations Manager to join our successful team at our head office in York (must live local).

As Content Operations Manager, you will lead the delivery, governance and continuous improvement of website content across all the Portakabin markets, working with writers, SEO specialists, localisation partners and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality, search-optimised content is delivered consistently. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a major digital transformation programme while establishing the processes, standards and governance needed to support long-term content excellence across the business.

You will own the delivery and governance of the content programme across all markets, ensuring content is produced efficiently, meets quality standards and is delivered in line with programme milestones.

Your role will be to drive the adoption of streamlined content workflows, strong governance, and consistent editorial standards across all websites. You'll improve content quality, accessibility, and SEO, ensuring engaging, discoverable, and user-focused digital experiences.


Role Details:

  • Annual Salary – Up to £49,000 depending on experience
  • On-target annual bonus of up to 10%, with the potential to earn up to a maximum of 20% based on business performance
  • Role based - New Lane, Huntington, York, YO32 9PT – Once you are fully competent in the role, you will be able to work from home 1 to 2 days per week.
  • Permanent
  • Eligible for Private Medical Scheme
  • Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of content across multiple websites and European markets, balancing global consistency with local market requirements while tracking progress against timelines, budgets and key milestones.
  • Own the website content estate, ensuring content remains accurate, compliant, relevant and optimised throughout its lifecycle.
  • Support the development and publication of thought leadership content to demonstrate expertise, reinforce strategic positioning and enhance the customer experience, ensuring content remains relevant, discoverable and valuable across all markets.
  • Create and manage content workflows from briefing through to publication.
  • Develop and refine writer briefs and review and approve content to ensure editorial standards are maintained.
  • Manage relationships with SEO agencies and localisation partners to ensure consistent delivery standards across all markets.
  • Support content optimisation for both traditional and AI-driven search, monitor content performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate reviews and approvals with country teams, subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate content workshops and briefing sessions to drive accountability and ownership across all stakeholders.
  • Establish content governance frameworks and ownership models and define content review cycles and approval processes to drive continuous optimisation based on performance and business priorities.

Essential Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong editorial judgement and content quality assurance.
  • Extensive experience delivering website migration, content transformation or large-scale website programmes, including multi-market and multilingual content delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of project and resource management, process improvement and continuous optimisation.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO content optimisation and digital performance.
  • Experience managing multilingual content and localisation.
  • Experience managing content production through internal teams, agencies, freelance writers or localisation partners.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong professional networks internally and externally.
