CONTENT PRODUCER

Barfly · Soho, London · Hybrid

WELCOME TO BARFLY

We are a proudly independent strategic drinks consultancy and we live and specialise in the world of drinks. It's our sole category of focus, expertise and passion. We provide'street-level' insight on what's happening in key cities and countries around the world in relation to socialising and drinking, working with major drinks brands including Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Heineken, AB InBev, Bacardi, Campari Group, Rémy Cointreau and Moët Hennessy.

Almost all of that work gets captured on film, and those films are what clients remember. This role owns them.

THE ROLE

We're a small and ambitious team, and we're looking for a Content Producer who brings passion for the drinks world and a real eye for film.

You'll turn raw research footage into insight films and sizzle reels our clients actually want to watch, and keep Barfly's own content output ticking over. You'll own the whole thing end to end: shooting, editing and publishing. The strategy team will be alongside you on the story, but the craft is yours.

This is a hands-on role. You might spend the morning cutting interviews from Lagos and New York, head out in the afternoon to film a bartender in a Soho bar, then get a Barfly Musings film live on the website and out to our client network before the week is done.

Most of our work is done from our Soho office, with 1 day per week WFH. When a project takes you further afield, we encourage you to be adventurous.

EDITING (THE BULK OF THE JOB)

Turning raw interview footage (filmed, recorded from online video calls, and live recorded interviews) into a handful of tight, client-facing insight films and sizzle reels: working with the strategy team across the transcripts and footage to find the themes and the strongest evidence for each, then building three or four 4-minute films that stand up in a debrief. Done in a text-based editor like Descript: transcript cleanup, structural reorders, lower thirds, b-roll passes.

A lot of the source material is remote-call footage (Zoom/Teams) rather than filmed interviews, so you'll be comfortable getting decent results out of imperfect recordings: patchy audio, dropouts, varying levels between participants and speaker-view switching.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Transcription and subtitle workflows: machine transcription, speaker diarisation, then properly corrected SRTs (brand names standardised, right spelling convention per client).

Hands-on with AI voice and translation tools (ElevenLabs or similar) for dubbing, foreign-language subtitles and narration, plus AI transcription and generative video/image tools.

Premiere Pro for anything the text-based editor can't handle.

Delivering films on Vimeo and reporting on view analytics.

FILMING

Leading UK shoots: interviews with drinks professionals and consumers, plus b-roll.

Confident solo on a compact setup (DJI Osmo Pocket 3, wireless lav mics). Exposure, framing, clean audio, and a decent interview setup in someone's bar with no crew and 15 minutes to get ready.

Knowing what b-roll the edit needs and shooting it while you're there.

BARFLY MUSINGS AND SOCIAL

Owning Barfly Musings (barfly.pm/insights): 3-4 minute insight films with drinks professionals and consumers worldwide, from edit to publish, and growing it. Published monthly at a minimum, and sent to our client network.

Making sure every Musings film is live and up to date everywhere it needs to be: the Barfly website (WordPress), Mailchimp, LinkedIn, and any new platform we add.

Recutting each film into ultra-short vertical clips for LinkedIn posts: pulling the strongest 20 to 40 seconds, captioning it, and writing the post copy that goes with it.

Keeping everything external-facing visually consistent.

COLLABORATION

Coordinating freelance videographers and editors for shoots and editing we can't cover ourselves.

Supporting the insight team on deck debriefs and reports, and the senior team on pitch documents.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Min. 3 years demonstrated experience producing and editing video content as an integral contributor, ideally in an agency, production company or in-house content team
  • A showreel or portfolio of interview-led and short-form work we can watch
  • Strong text-based editing (Descript or similar) and Premiere Pro, or a fast learner. Text-based editing is the backbone here
  • AI-native: already building AI into how you work, and keen to test new tools as they land.
  • Can shoot and record clean HD footage and audio
  • Comfortable working with remote-call footage and doing basic audio repair
  • Comfortable on macOS and across Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive)
  • Comfortable in WordPress, our website host
  • Sharp written English. You'll be correcting subtitles and name cards clients read closely, and writing social copy
  • An aptitude for connecting dots and finding patterns across hours of interview material, then distilling these into a film that makes the point in four minutes
  • Thrives in an independent environment. Embraces autonomy, gets involved straight off the bat and learns as you go
  • A 'work smart' mindset and strong time management. We're not into long hours for the sake of it
  • Likes to socialise and has a genuine curiosity about what people drink, where and why
  • Experience in the drinks category is a bonus, not a requirement
