About Owngreen
Owngreen is building a UK-focused home-energy community to help homeowners make smarter decisions about their homes, energy use, and household costs.
We share practical, easy-to-understand information about solar, battery storage, energy efficiency, energy tariffs, heating, EV charging, and other home-energy solutions.
We are at an early stage, which means this is an opportunity to help shape the brand, content, and community from the ground up.
About the Role
We are looking for a Content & Social Media Volunteer who is interested in content creation, social media, sustainability, and the UK home-energy sector.
You will help create useful and engaging content for Owngreen's digital channels while helping us build an online community around smarter home energy.
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and would suit someone looking to develop practical experience, build their portfolio, and contribute to a growing sustainability-focused project.
What You'll Do
- Research UK home-energy topics and identify useful content ideas.
- Create engaging posts for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Help develop articles, guides, and other website content.
- Turn technical or complicated energy topics into simple, accessible explanations.
- Help plan and maintain a content calendar.
- Engage with relevant conversations and communities on social media.
- Respond to comments and messages where appropriate.
- Monitor basic content performance and identify what resonates with the audience.
- Research current developments, trends, and discussions around UK home energy.
- Contribute ideas for campaigns, community activities, and future content.
- Help maintain a consistent Owngreen brand voice across our digital channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
