The Content Strategist strengthens how AKQA communicates its work, ideas, and direction. The role focuses on developing campaigns, building editorial systems, and producing high-quality content that reflects who we are and what we are working towards. As the momentum of our work continues to grow, this role exists to elevate it by bringing together themes across our work, people, and capabilities to create a clear and consistent narrative that supports our brand and business goals.

Role & Responsibilities

Narrative and Campaign Development

  • Help shape the campaigns and content that represent AKQA across our owned channels.
  • Work within the Marketing team and partner with Growth, Creative, and regional teams to understand priorities and surface strong stories.
  • Translate case studies into persuasive client stories, find the strongest angles within complex material, and connect related themes so our narrative builds consistency over time.
  • Support leadership in expressing our direction through clear, relevant, and accessible storytelling.

Editorial Strategy and Systems

  • Build and manage the editorial foundations that keep our content aligned and coherent, including plans, calendars, and workflows.
  • Set clear goals and audiences and ensure measurement reflects business priorities.
  • Maintain editorial standards across tone, structure, and voice.
  • Work with contributors from across the organisation to refine content so it is accurate, cohesive, and ready for publication.

Content Creation and Craft

  • Research, write, and produce content across formats including opinion pieces, social campaigns, case stories, website copy, thought leadership, and scripts, adapting ideas to suit the strengths of each medium.
  • Edit with clarity and precision, strengthening structure and intent without losing the author’s voice.
  • Conduct interviews with subject experts and clients to uncover insights that elevate stories.
  • Ensure all content is informed by cultural context, business relevance, and what is happening in the market.

QUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICS

  • Strong editorial experience, ideally from journalism, media, or corporate storytelling, and the ability to write with clarity, simplify complex ideas, and craft engaging narratives.
  • Confidence interviewing subject experts and leaders and turning insight into compelling stories.
  • Understanding of digital publishing and multimedia formats, with strong visual judgment and the ability to adapt content across channels without losing coherence or tone.
  • Ability to develop content strategies and multi-channel campaigns and identify narrative patterns across different pieces of work.
  • Skill in finding the real angle in early-stage or incomplete material and connecting themes so stories reinforce one another over time.
  • Editorial judgement that guides teams toward clearer, more effective storytelling that supports brand and business priorities.
  • Awareness of cultural trends, industry shifts, and emerging technologies, using this knowledge to sharpen story angles and maintain relevance.
  • A way of working grounded in curiosity and initiative, with clear communication and strong collaboration across functions.
  • Discipline in managing multiple priorities and raising issues early so work can move forward smoothly.
