FREELANCE CONTENT STRATEGIST
Major Digital Publisher · London, Hybrid · 25 Days · Outside IR35
AT A GLANCE
- Rate: £400/day (outside IR35)
- Structure: 25 days total - approx 3 days/week over 2 months (flexible)
- Start: ASAP - must complete before early October
- Location: London - 2 days in office, 3 days remote weekly
THE COMPANY
One of the UK's biggest digital publishers with a massive global following built through real-life storytelling - documentary, reality and human interest content at scale. 10 million YouTube subscribers, 50 million+ social followers across Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. A portfolio of 4 to 5 established content brands with loyal audiences and a genuine ambition to push them further in a saturated social environment.
THE ROLE
A video strategy and audience growth engagement - this is the core of the brief. You will develop a platform-by-platform strategy, build a brand growth roadmap, define content formats and cadence, design scalable content systems and present a bold, implementable strategy that the in-house team can sustain. You will also help set strategic direction for the social team for continuity after your engagement ends.

Platform priority order: Snapchat, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram. This is a publisher - monetisation dynamics on Snap and Facebook are central to the brief. The ideal candidate has broader platform expertise beyond TikTok and Instagram, and brings genuine experience from the short-form digital content world - particularly documentary or reality.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Develop a platform-by-platform video strategy tailored to each channel
- Build a growth roadmap for 4 to 5 hero content brands including standalone brand development
- Design scalable content systems and workflows the in-house team can execute and sustain
- Define what content gets made, in what format and how often on each platform
- Review current workflows and recommend smarter, more efficient ways of working
- Explore what new IP could look like under the publisher umbrella
- Present a clear, prioritised and implementable strategy to senior stakeholders
- Help set strategic direction for the in-house social team for continuity after engagement

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Strong expertise in video strategy and audience growth - this is the number one requirement
- Background in short-form digital content, particularly documentary or reality
- Experience at or with companies such as LADbible, Channel 4.0, The Cut or VICE
- Broader platform knowledge across YouTube, Snapchat and Facebook - not just TikTok and Instagram
- Track record of designing scalable content systems and growing audiences at scale
- Case studies of brand and audience building to demonstrate real results
- Confident challenging existing workflows and recommending bold changes
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - you will present to senior leadership
- Lively, informal personality - team has young energy and cultural fit genuinely matters
