About the Opportunity
micro1 is engaging experienced Journalist / Writers to contribute to a customer project focused on evaluating and improving advanced AI-generated writing. In this role, you will apply your professional expertise in journalism, writing, editing, and fact-checking to assess the quality, accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness of AI-generated content.
You will compare AI-generated responses against writing prompts and evaluation standards, identify factual or logical issues, and provide structured feedback that helps improve how AI systems generate and evaluate written content. No prior AI experience is required — your writing and editorial expertise are what matter most.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and compare multiple AI-generated responses to writing prompts.
- Assess responses for clarity, tone, helpfulness, accuracy, and adherence to the given instructions.
- Assign analytical quality scores and provide concise, well-reasoned written rationales.
- Identify writing that appears persuasive or authoritative but contains factual inaccuracies, unsupported claims, or deviations from the intended brief.
- Detect factual errors, logical inconsistencies, contradictions, and problems with internal coherence.
- Evaluate whether content is appropriately written for its intended audience and purpose.
- Apply editorial judgment and established writing standards when reviewing AI-generated content.
- Document evaluations and findings accurately using digital content review platforms and project-provided tools.
- Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and other reviewers to maintain consistent evaluation standards.
- Work independently to complete assigned evaluations accurately and within project timelines.

Required Qualifications
- Professional-level written fluency in English.
- University degree completed at an institution in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
- Professional experience in journalism, reporting, editing, copy editing, sub-editing, fact-checking, ghostwriting, or published writing.
- Strong expertise in writing, technical writing, content evaluation, and critical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to identify factual inaccuracies and unsupported claims.
- Experience assessing writing for clarity, accuracy, coherence, tone, and audience suitability.
- Strong written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and consistently deliver high-quality evaluations in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience editing or fact-checking others' work against a style guide or established editorial standards.
- Professional experience evaluating content for accuracy, structure, clarity, and audience appropriateness.
- Experience working with technical, digital, or specialized written content.
- Familiarity with annotation platforms, digital content-review tools, or structured evaluation workflows.
- Previous experience with AI model evaluation or AI training initiatives is a plus but not required.
- Strong ability to distinguish polished and persuasive writing from content that is inaccurate, poorly supported, or inconsistent with the assigned brief.
