The Team
Oculus Legal Group are working with a highly regarded Legal 500 regional practice with a Tier 1 ranked Insolvency team.
The team has built a strong reputation for handling high-value and complex insolvency matters and is continuing to grow, with a genuine opportunity for the successful solicitor to play a key part in the next stage of that development.
The current Head of Department is keen to continue building the offering, with a strong influx of high-quality and increasingly complex work. This creates an excellent opportunity for a Contentious Insolvency Solicitor to join a well-established team at a point where there is genuine scope to grow with the department.
One of the biggest attractions of the role is the size and strength of the insolvency team. The department has a genuinely close-knit culture, with colleagues who have developed strong relationships both professionally and personally. It is a team where people know each other well, support one another and enjoy working together, rather than simply being colleagues within a large department.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
